The Devonshire Collection is a record of one family’s eclectic tastes and interests over four hundred years, with pieces ranging from Elizabethan needlework and Enlightenment scientific instruments to Old Master drawings and 21st century art and sculpture.

The Devonshire Archives can reveal some fascinating stories about the people who amassed this collection, and their homes – at Chatsworth, Bolton Abbey and elsewhere. In her illustrated talk, archivist and librarian Fran Baker will explore some of these stories, as well as the history of the archive itself, which spans a 500-year period.

The event shall begin at 12 noon with two course lunch and a glass of wine, followed by a 45 minute presentation with tea/coffee and 10 minutes of questions.
